Description

The control valve is the final control element of the process loop and directly determines the quality, stability and safety of the process. Pneumatically actuated globe valves offer precise throttling, tight shut-off and excellent rangeability, which is why they are the standard choice for flow, pressure, level and temperature control in the energy and process industries. Hamoon supplies globe control valves from world-leading valve manufacturers, complete with spring-diaphragm or piston actuators, positioners and accessories.

Bodies are available in carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy materials, with cage-guided or post-guided trims, linear or equal-percentage characteristics, and special anti-cavitation and low-noise trims for severe service. Each valve is sized according to IEC 60534 and ISA standards based on your process data, so that the right Cv, trim and actuator are selected for stable control.

Typical applications

  • Flow, pressure and level control in refineries and gas processing plants
  • Steam pressure reduction and desuperheating in power plants
  • Compressor anti-surge and recycle loops
  • Feedwater and condensate control

Key points when selecting a Pneumatic Globe Control Valve

  • Calculate the required Cv at minimum, normal and maximum flow.
  • Choose an equal-percentage or linear trim characteristic for the system behaviour.
  • Define the fail-safe action on air failure (fail open or fail close).
  • Consider the seat leakage class (ANSI/FCI 70-2) and cavitation or flashing risk when selecting trim.

Pneumatic Globe Control Valve — frequently asked questions

What data is needed to size a control valve?

Fluid, flow rate, inlet and outlet pressure, temperature, density or molecular weight, viscosity and line size at minimum, normal and maximum conditions.

Why does a control valve need a positioner?

The positioner overcomes friction and process forces so the valve position matches the control signal precisely, and enables valve diagnostics.
