Description

In oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, a flash fire can occur without warning. Flame-resistant (FR) coveralls are designed to self-extinguish once the ignition source is removed, so the garment does not continue to burn and the extent of burn injuries is significantly reduced. Unlike ordinary cotton or polyester workwear, FR fabrics do not melt or drip onto the skin.

Hamoon supplies coveralls made from inherently flame-resistant fibres such as aramid blends, or from cotton with a durable FR finish, certified depending on the model to EN ISO 11612 (heat and flame), EN ISO 11611 (welding), EN 1149-5 (electrostatic dissipation) and IEC 61482-2 (electric arc). Retro-reflective FR tape on the arms, legs and torso improves visibility in low light. Practical features include two-way zips with storm flaps, multiple pockets, radio loops and elasticated or adjustable cuffs, and sizes, colours and logos can be tailored to company requirements.

Typical applications

  • Oil and gas production, drilling and refining
  • Petrochemical plants and fuel stations
  • Electrical maintenance with arc-flash risk
  • Welding and hot work

Key points when selecting a Flame-Resistant (FR) Coveralls

  • Check ISO 11612 (heat and flame) and IEC 61482 (arc flash) against your hazards.
  • Inherently flame-resistant fabric keeps its protection after repeated washing.
  • Reflective tape improves visibility at night and in low light.
  • Areas with flammable gas require antistatic fabric (EN 1149).

Flame-Resistant (FR) Coveralls — frequently asked questions

Is FR clothing the same as fireproof clothing?

FR clothing self-extinguishes away from the flame; entering a fire requires firefighter turnout gear.

Can normal clothing be worn over FR garments?

No. A non-FR outer layer can ignite and defeat the protection; underlayers should be natural fibres.
