Description

Measuring excess oxygen in flue gas is the most effective way to optimise combustion. Too much excess air wastes fuel and increases heat losses, while too little leads to incomplete combustion, carbon monoxide and safety risks. In-situ zirconia oxygen analyzers install directly on the duct or stack wall, so the probe measures the gas at process conditions without sample extraction, delivering a fast, accurate signal for combustion control.

The heated zirconium oxide cell generates a voltage proportional to the difference in oxygen concentration between the flue gas and a reference gas. Hamoon supplies analyzers from leading manufacturers with probe lengths for different duct sizes, automatic calibration with test gases, filters for abrasive service and high-temperature versions. Transmitters provide 4–20 mA HART outputs and comprehensive diagnostics for cell condition and response time.

Typical applications

  • Utility and industrial boilers
  • Process heaters and furnaces in refineries and petrochemical plants
  • Cement kilns and steel reheating furnaces
  • Incinerators and waste heat recovery units

Key points when selecting a In-Situ Zirconia Oxygen Analyzer

  • Select probe length for the duct or stack diameter and location.
  • Provide gas temperature and dust load to choose filters and probe protection.
  • Automatic calibration with reference gas simplifies maintenance.
  • On gas-fired heaters, adding CO measurement improves combustion control.

In-Situ Zirconia Oxygen Analyzer — frequently asked questions

How does flue-gas oxygen measurement save fuel?

Keeping excess air at its optimum reduces stack heat loss, typically saving several percent of fuel.

Why choose an in-situ analyzer over an extractive one?

Very fast response, no sample-conditioning system and lower maintenance.
