Description

Toxic and flammable gases are invisible threats in oil, gas, petrochemical and many other industries. A portable multi-gas detector worn by each worker continuously samples the surrounding air and warns immediately when a hazardous condition develops. The standard four-gas configuration monitors oxygen deficiency or enrichment, combustible gases as a percentage of the lower explosive limit (LEL), hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and carbon monoxide (CO), the most common hazards in industrial plants and confined spaces.

Hamoon supplies detectors from world-leading gas detection manufacturers, including MSA and Honeywell, with rugged water- and dust-proof housings, long-life sensors and intrinsically safe certification for use in explosive atmospheres. Loud audible alarms, bright LEDs and vibration alerts ensure that warnings are noticed even in noisy environments. Optional internal pumps allow pre-entry testing of confined spaces, while automatic bump-test and calibration stations simplify compliance and record keeping.

Typical applications

  • Confined space entry and pre-entry testing
  • Refinery, gas plant and petrochemical operations
  • Tank cleaning, turnarounds and maintenance work
  • Wastewater treatment and mining

Key points when selecting a Portable Multi-Gas Detector

  • Choose sensors by hazard; the common set is LEL, O2, H2S and CO.
  • For confined-space entry, a pumped model is preferred.
  • A bump-test and calibration station simplifies and documents daily testing.
  • Intrinsic-safety approval (ATEX/IECEx) is mandatory in hazardous areas.

Portable Multi-Gas Detector — frequently asked questions

What is a bump test and why is it needed?

A short exposure to test gas that confirms sensors and alarms respond before each use.

How long do gas detector sensors last?

Electrochemical sensors typically last 2–4 years; catalytic and IR sensors last longer.
